Myopia Control Treatment

Myopia Control Therapy with soft multifocal contact lens has been shown to control the rate of progression of myopia. Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness or short sightedness, causes blurry distance vision but is also associated with a growing concern of sight-threatening eye diseases such as myopic maculopathy, glaucoma, and retinal detachments.

The specially designed multifocal contact lenses called MiSight® 1 Day by CooperVision® utilizes two treatment zones and two correction zones to effectively decrease the progression of myopia when compared to traditional single vision contact lenses or glasses. The outer rings of increased plus power creates a peripheral defocus in the peripheral retina, which act as a signal to discourage the lengthening of eye growth. The effectiveness of these therapeutic multifocal contact lenses have been reported to reduce the rate of progression by 59% compared with single vision one-day contact lens over a three-year period.
